As part of the Mormon Documentation Project, this project's goal is to provide the LDS canon of scriptures in a standardized format for third-party applications.

The Scriptures included are all the standard works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

A new release candidate is available, version 3.0_rc2.

The major change in the 3.0 branch is that the schema has been normalized. This affects the verses database table -- instead of having the chapter number be a part of the table, it has been broken off into its own database table. This will allow queries that range tables be much simpler to make.

In addition to that, the other significant update is that the verses for Doctrine and Covenants section 77 have been corrected, where they were missing part of the text in previous releases.

Also, the downloads are not split as in previous releases; instead, the available exports are included in one package.

This release is not yet complete. Currently, it only contains database exports for Sqlite and Postgresql. The other exports still need some work before they can be finished, but these three are most likely going to be the versions for final 3.0 release. The remaining work for the other releases is minor -- the MySQL export needs some tables renamed and some default values fixed for consistency, and the Microsoft Access, CSV and XML exports need to include the latest updates and be recreated.

Documentation has not been included in the package as was previously. Instead I've opted to include it here on this site, since it will allow me to update it as needed. Also, it was finishing the documentation that has been the blocker for me getting a release out. It is not yet complete for the 3.0 release, and it will probably come after the initial release as well.

I've been working on a 3.0 release, and while it's not completely finished, I have the schema just about completed. You can download the snapshot of the release candidate for MySQL and PostgreSQL here. Once I finish standardizing the schema (should already be complete, just needs some checking), port the exports to other formats and finish the new documentation, the final release will be ready.

This release candidate also fixes a bug where Section 77 of Doctrine and Covenants was missing the text of the answers from the verses.

Downloads are available for Access, MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQLite databases, and text exports are available in CSV, Excel, OpenDocument and XML formats.
